The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill provides the opportunity to rehabilitate from surgery, or train through injury, without pain. AlterG’s unique underweighting technology reduces the impact of walking or running, while the body goes through its natural healing process.
Differential Air Pressure (DAP) applies a comfortable and uniform lifting force to the body which allows users to exercise at a reduced body weight, while maintaining normal running or walking mechanics.
The AlterG can be used by people of all ages and abilities as it provides a fall-safe environment. Our trained physiotherapists and exercise physiologists are able to guide, assist and supervise use of the anti-gravity treadmill where required.
The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill is used for the treatment of many conditions including:
- Rehabilitating after hip, knee, ankle or foot surgery
- Gait training for neuro-patients
- Strength and conditioning for older patients
- Training through injury
- Weight control and reduction
- Minimising stress-related and recurring injuries
- Reduced impact training and athletic conditioning
During your initial session a physiotherapist will recommend a program to best suit your needs in working towards your goal.
Do I require a referral?
No. You do not need a referral to use the AlterG, however you will need an initial consultation with one of our physiotherapists in order to use the anti-gravity treadmill. Subsequent sessions, without a physiotherapist, may be booked in 30 or 60 minute timeslots.
