Attadale Rehabilitation Hospital Staff Walk for Women’s Cancer

Jun 09, 2021

Attadale Rehabilitation Hospital staff walked 216km and raised $4122 as part of the Walk for Women’s Cancer.

The Sisters with Blisters team included Director of Clinical Services Karen Cunliffe, Staff Development Coordinator Maria Atkinson and Clinical Risk & Quality Coordinator Fiona Legg.

They pounded the pavement for seven days and finished on May 29.

The Walk for Women’s Cancer raised more than $1 million for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

“Each of us knows someone who has been affected by cancer, so it seemed like the perfect cause,” Ms Cunliffe said.

“We did a lot of practice walks before, to build our fitness.

“It was lots of fun and we plan on doing it again next year, hopefully with a few more teammates.”

Ramsay Health Care Chief Operating Officer – Hospitals, Greg Hall, said employees were encouraged to give back to the community, reflecting The Ramsay Way philosophy ‘People Caring For People’.

“We recognise we have an important role to play in our local communities and in serving society at large,” Mr Hall said.
